KENT ST. JOHN’S JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE
IN WITH THE NEW, OUT WITH THE OLD.
On April 12, 2010 A meeting was held with two
Representatives Mr. Kevin Tobin, and Mr. Brian Butt.
of the CBR Renegades Junior Hockey Club. They had
proposed the entry of a new team within Kent
St.John’s Junior Hockey League. During this
Meeting the General Manager of the Bell Island
Junior Blues, Mr. David Brazil announced that
team Junior Blues after 20 years within the
St. John’s Junior Hockey League will be dissolved
after the May 12, 2010 Annual General Meeting and
a merger with the Assante Conception Bay Regional
Junior Renegades will be a reality. He stated that
the Junior Blues entering the 2010-2011 season will
be losing 10 players due to the Overage ruling.
Mr. Brazil said, “replacing that many players in
one season would be very difficult, and after a
meeting with the CBR Junior Hockey Club Executive
the decision to merge was their only alternative.”
David Brazil will join the CBR Renegades Junior
Hockey Club as an advisor and offering them his 20 years
experience with Junior Hockey.
All players presently registered with the Bell Island
Junior Blues team will be offered positions with the
Junior Renegades.
Team Assante Junior Renegades will operate out of
the C.B.S. Stadium in Kelligrews.
Kent St. John’s Junior Hockey League will surely miss
one of it’s long standing members. Knowing David
Brazil for all those years, I can assure you that this
was one of the hardest decisions he has ever had to
make in his hockey career. And yet again, as usual
he put his players needs ahead of his own personal needs.
David Brazil, a class act will be missed within the Junior Ranks.
Bernard R. Tobin, President.
