SJJHL: AWARDS VOTING PROCESS

KENT ST. JOHN’S JUNIOR HOCKEY LEAGUE PLAYERS VYING FOR EACH OF THE LEAGUE’S TOP AWARDS.   EXPLAINATION ON THE VOTING PROCESS. THERE ARE 8 TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE, AND 10 EXECUTIVE COMMITTEE MEMBERS.

Trophies Listing and Voting Process - 2009- 2010 Season.

The League teams and the teams only determine the recipients of the League's Awards. Teams are not permitted to vote for their own nominees. The teams are given a list of Awards that are decided by the voting process. Each team is asked to nominate a player from their team for each Award. When all eight (8) teams have returned their completed list the League then sends out a list of the nominees for each Award for teams voting. We ask that each team submit their list of nominees not later than Sunday,     February 14, 2010.  This season's last game.
Completed lists are then sent back to the Statistician, after all votes are tallied the list is then sent onto the President of the League.
Trophies Below are voted on by the Teams:
Each Team nominates a player from their team for each Award.
Each team will be issued nomintion forms.   These forms must be into the League no later than Sunday, February 14, 2010. Last game of the Season.

When the process is completed and any member of the League who is skeptical of the voting process, may view the results of the voting by contacting the President after the awards dinner of April 30 , 2010.   The League Statistician being involved in the reviewing and tallying
of the votes do not participate in the voting process.    We do have 2 or 3 Executive Members who attend at least 80% of the Regular season and playoffs games. These Members do not nominate players from a team, they do, however, like the teams, cast their votes in the voting process and do not know the results of the votes until awards night.
How the recipient of each trophy is determined.
a …. Each team is asked to submit one player per trophy.
b …. The Nominees are then submitted to the Statistician of the League.
c ….. A form containing all the nominees for each trophy is then issued to all the League teams and League Executive Members.
Of the 10 League Executive Members 6 or 7 decline to vote due to not having viewed enough games to identify players names.  Thus each year the League may have up to 3or 4  Executive Members who have seen enough games to determine who to vote for.
d …. Now the voting.   As there are 8 teams in the League and no team is permitted to vote for their own nominee this leaves 7 teams x 1 vote per nominee per award.
e …. Each team is asked to cast their vote using the number system of   7,6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.  With 7 being the highest vote and 1 being the lowest vote.
f ….   Teams Votes + the 4 or 5 League Executive Member votes, the highest possible total of votes a player can accumulate per trophy would be 49 votes + the Executive Committee's votes.    With the lowest being 7 votes.
g …. The process of who will be the recipient of a trophy is determined by the number of highest votes per trophy.
h …. The League presently has 11 trophies that are voted on and 10 others presented on the statistical outcome of a team or a player.
